Our Core Values

  • Story sovereignty

Embedding seeds of ancestral knowledge into creative practice ensures our stories remain rooted in authentic cultural wisdom rather than external expectations.

  • Kinship first

Curating protocol for respectful, responsive and safe spaces creates the foundation for genuine relationships and community care.

Building career paths across communities and generations strengthens our culture of reciprocity and collective growth.

  • Embodied wisdom

Ancestral knowledge embedded in practice represents wisdom that lives in the body, not just the mind.

Learning and teaching in varied ways honours different forms of knowledge and cultural transmission.

  • Ancestral futures

Seeds of ancestral knowledge planted today grow into tomorrow's creative innovations.

Creating intergenerational opportunity ensures cultural continuity while building new pathways forward.

Founded in 2021, Studio Kiin is an Indigenous-led creative studio and collective working across Australia, Aotearoa and the Pacific region. We are a family of storytellers who are working to normalise story sovereignty, cultivate kinship and prioritise healing in creative practice. We are passionate about empowering artists to lead with culturally responsive, ethical and sustainable creative practice.

Our methods are tailored to the specific needs of each community, project and partnership we collaborate with through the honouring place, space and time that they exist in.

Our publishing platforms include Rarama Ink - an independent press arm dedicated to stories by and for Indigenous peoples, and Talanoa, a digital storytelling platform for Oceanic stories.

For Individuals and community groups

We offer creative workshops, consultation, collaboration and expertise

We look for opportunities to bring ideas, stories or projects to life that are sustainable, exciting and challenging through empowering people to tell their story their way and on their terms by bringing together collaborative teams of specialist storytellers, consultants and producers.

So that stories are honest, unapologetic and authentic.

For Galleries, Museums, Libraries, Archives and Festivals (GLAM)

We offer graphic, spatial and relational design

We utilize ancestral knowledges of relational dynamics to design digital and physical interactive experiences of storytelling, through speaking directly to the interests and values of our audiences and artists.

So that organisations and institutions can engage with Indigenous storytellers and audiences in a clear, sustainable, meaningful and effective manner.

For production companies, arts organisations and institutions

We offer cultural mapping and unique artist and knowledge holder networks.

We understand challenges unique to storytelling in the Pacific region, identify pressure points and collaboratively design responsive storytelling cultures and protocols, drawing upon our extensive and unique artist and knowledge holder ecosystem.

So that companies have clear guidelines on culturally appropriate terms of engagement, adaptive conflict resolution, and ongoing relations with storytellers and audiences.
